Painting allows little pieces of me to surface. Each revelation a gift. No matter how hard I try, I cannot reproduce it. To my angst and delight, it comes and goes as it pleases. They are less edited versions of me. Some I like more than others. Yet all are me.
The pieces in this collection are acrylic and mixed media. Each one began with an inspiration – something that caught my eye: a color, a silhouette, a stance, an emotion. These creations all start with something.
Art is a way for me to say “I am”. It is easy to be hidden in the “we” of life. This is my way of being visible. I invite you to see something of me and in doing so see something of you.

When I was young, I used to watch Bob Ross paint his puffy clouds on our public TV station. He declared that anyone can be a painter. He said there are no mistakes when it comes to painting. Thirty four years after watching Bob Ross, I started painting. My youngest son just started first grade, and I had the space to create. My very first painting was a tree in springtime with pink blossoms against a golden sky. Which led to three more paintings: a summer tree in full bloom, a fall tree with golden leaves, and a winter tree that looks dormant but when you look up close it has tiny little buds.
