About the work:

John Schuh's process begins with his precisely detailed photography. He works with prints of his most beautiful archive-quality photos, cutting and layering them to form each collage. John then brushes on a clear finish, creating a uniquely textured surface for each piece.

Inspired by both natural and man-made forms, John often blurs the line between the two. He also delights in juxtaposing the old with the new, for example combining his wide-angle shots of Seattle's downtown skyscrapers with his richly colored photos of the vintage red brick from the defunct brewery in Georgetown.
