Carkeek Park Outdoor Art Exhibit: Heaven
and EarthSylwia Tur'Language within Landscape'
juxtaposes the elements of organic shapes with architectural geometry and
composition. It is a representation of the in-between space that we create with
our everyday world, existing between Heaven and Earth. The title of the piece
makes a reference to one of our most important faculties, language. Just like
the world around us changes, so is our language. Each piece is a representation
of an individual language system; each one very distinct, but having something
in common with all members of the group. The architectural geometry of
porcelain represents the regularity of language, while the organic shapes of
plaster its flexibility to adapt. The Language within Landscape thus adapts to
the nature that surrounds it, and becomes one with it, if only for a short
time.
