A member of CoCA's curatorial team, David Francis holds MFA, PhD, and Certificate degrees from the University of Washington in Poetry and Museum Studies (1992, 1996, 2003). He has taught widely as lecturer, instructor, and assistant professor in Poland (Fulbright, 1998-99), Hungary (Fulbright, 2002), Semester at Sea (2001), Kentucky (1999), Delaware (1988), and Washington, where he is currently a member of the Diverse Disciplines faculty at Pratt Fine Arts Center. Since 2007, he has also served as Senior Editor for Willamette Cultural Resources Associates, an archaeology contracting firm in Portland, Oregon.

An Academy of American Poets prizewinner, Francis has published about 25 poems over the past 20 years, often in nationally recognized literary journals such as Ploughshares, New Orleans Review, Verse, The Iowa Review, and numerous others. For a list of his online poetry, see links below:
