The Center for Land Use Interpretation (CLUI)

June 12 - July 31

Land/Use/Action includes an exhibition at CoCA of CLUI photodocuments and artifacts, with an accompanying guidebook. Better still, CLUI will be conducting escorted tours of unusual and exemplary sites featured in the exhibition at CoCA.

The Center for Land Use Interpretation (CLUI) is a nonprofit research organization based in Los Angeles that explores the nature and consequences of human interaction with the earth's surface. Focusing on landscapes that have been altered by the hands of industry, art, commerce or defense as different categories of "industrial readymades," CLUI offers a different lens through which to understand land use and action. CLUI highlights the many approaches to land use and perspectives of the landscape, emphasizing the multiplicity of views regarding the use of our terrestrial and geographic resources.

OUR APOLOGIES: CoCA's recent presentation of "100 Places in Washington" by the Center For Land Use Interpretation included an photograph of the artwork entitled "The Fin Project: From Swords into Plowshares" located at Magnusen Park. The caption for this photograph failed to credit the creator of the artwork, John T. Young. CoCA and the CLUI sincerely apologize to Mr. Young for this omission.
