2012 Annual: M.K. Guth

2012 CoCA Annual Exhibition Juried By M. K. Guth
Submission deadline November 16, 2012 (Submissions are closed)

CoCA has presented the Annual, a unique survey of Contemporary Art, since 1989, each time inviting an independent juror to select the work from among the entries received. For this year's 23rd manifestation of the show, CoCA is proud to have Portland based artist M. K. Guth as our juror.

Guth is a multidisciplinary artist working in video, photography, sculpture and performative exchange based projects. Her work arrives from an indeterminate state of suspicion, where realities fluctuate and believing what one sees is a confining place.

Guth has exhibited widely and received critical praise for her work at The Whitney Museum of American Art, NYC; Boise Art Museum; The Melbourne International Arts Festival, Australia; Nottdance Festival, England; Swiss Institute, NYC; Elizabeth Leach Gallery, Portland; Betty Moody, Houston, TX; White Columns, NYC; Artists Space, NYC; Yerba Buena, in San Francisco; and the Henry Art Museum, Seattle and featured in Flash Art, New Art Examiner, and Art in America.

The deadline for submissions is midnight on November 16, 2012.

Artists in any region and any country are welcome to submit. Two-dimensional, three-dimensional and multi-media work will be considered. A $500 first prize and a $250 second prize will be awarded by the juror, as well as up to two "honorable mentions." A catalog of the show will feature artists' statements, biographies, and images, as well as an introductory essay by M.K. Guth.

There will be an opening reception with announcement of prize winners on Saturday, December 29, at CoCA's Georgetown gallery located inside the Seattle Design Center at 5701 6th Avenue South, Seattle WA 98108. (
